That about says it. Moving to Durant OK (1.5 hrs North of Dallas). I need a good mechanic who knows how to work on TPI engines.

Re: Need a good mechanic in North TX who knows TPI well

i need a little help... i switched my 89' v6 mpfi to a 92' setup 5.7 tbi... i am having trouble with the computer, it doesn't turn on unless i ground out the fuel pump relay... is there anything special with the 92' that i need to do to make my car start? is there any ignition stuff (in the column)?

Like VATS (Vehicle Anti Theft system)?
I don't know if VATS came on the TBI cars but it was in the 92 TPI cars.
I'm sure others here can tell you more about it than I can. But if you have it, it is pretty easy to burn a new chip with it turned off.

which computer do you have in there? yes you could get vats dissabled on the chip and might try that first. also post your problem in the main tpi section as someone might have had the same problem.

Re: Need a good mechanic in North TX who knows TPI well

I have the 5.7L comp in there... and the engine light doesn't turn on w/ either computer in it... i think that it may be a simple grounding problem?? cause they both turn on when i ground out the fp relay... but then the 2 injectors dont pump... and i did put a thread in the tbi 2 times (because its a 5.7 TBI)... no luck
