I’m assuming when I was welding on the roof some sparks must have fallen on something in the car, after waiting about five minutes after we were finished welding (to make sure nothing was burning), my friend and I went inside to get a quick glass of water, I looked through the garage and the car was on fire, I did not have insurance on the car…my insurance company never offered me storage insurance and I was unaware that it existed…I am going to try to salvage the engine, the transmission, and the tires. In a few months when I am able to save enough money hopefully I will be able to buy another camaro.
Man I know your pain. we had a 1991 Rs convertible a few years back with 25k miles on it and it got totaled by my brother Sucks.. and I hate to see a thirdgen go down in vain.:-(
i have a whole body of a camaro... 84. body only (no title as well - you can always just drill out the rivets and replace the vin#)... it has the front suspension still on it. come and get it for $50 and its urs.
no doors, front end, hatch, gas tank, rear end, just the body... i have the hatch and a hood (both in good condition) but i planned on sellin' em for a lil bit.
just lmk... its here if you want it, you can start your dream from scratch... its t-tops too.
It hurts me to see that, really..
..I've been working on mine constantly, putting all of my money into it since I got it..if that happened to mine, I don't know what I'd do...get another 3rd gen, sure..but.
Man..I'm sorry..good luck and just keep moving forward.
That sucks, especially when you can see the light at the end of a really long tunnel. My sympathies, I've had a couple of near misses with welding sparks myself. Set light to the sound deadening material in a door once. Luckily I had a hose close by and put it out quickly.
Hi,
I just wanted to let everyone know that I purchased a 1985 Camaro with a V8 305 carb engine. I wanted to thank ScottieB for the insurance information, I wish I would have known about the comprehensive insurance before my car caught on fire. The insurance company would have covered my car and damages to the other car that was parked close to the camaro. The insurance is only like $12.00 a month, and it covers flood, fire, theft, vandalism, etc…I think it would be useful to have a sticky thread giving people information about comprehensive insurance for vehicles that are off road, to prevent a total loss.
you're welcome its pretty cheap and its stupid to NOT insure your vehicle whether you drive it or not! its like leaving a plasma tv out in the rain and watching the box that it came in, inside :P
