thats got to be BS about it not being available to general public.
do you think that GM would really turn down a paying customer who wants a caprice?
really?
no.
i imagine that there would be lots of interest in this car as well.
0-60 in sub 6 sec is a bit quicker than the charger too
No body on frame = fail for a police car.
The Vic hasn't lasted so long as the standard police car because it's fast or because it handles great, but because it is fairly reliable and rugged because it has a real frame.
I'm glad the G8 platform is still in use though.
the only thing a body-on-frame gets you is extra weight, and it makes it easier to get a more rigid platform.
a unibody can be just as sucessful as a framed car, but it has to be engineered better.
the first generation of new impala cop cars (2003 i believe) were nearly indestructible, with braces and guard plates everywhere underneath.
I do here you on that, I wish they would start building more cars here at least are "cop cars" and fleet vehicle, But i know that is a hole nother topic in it's self !
they dont need posi
a posi rear end requires training the cops how to drive all over again in rainy and snowy conditions.
a posi is actually harder to drive in the rain and will slow you down.
it also requires extra maintenance, which is not good.
thats why the current cop car impalas were not given the supercharged motor available to the general public
too much maintenance and thats not a good thing
