Yep, not to far away. Its getting hard to find donor cars in our area how about yours? The salvage yards are crushing 99's on down. I still need a few things and people on Ebay are way too high on their prices. Do you know of any parts cars around?
Well, I need rubber tail light seals, a black rear lap seatbelt, front seatbelt mouting bolts, brake combination valve (round) must be for rear disc brakes. black passenger side door panel top plastic with good rubber wiper for door glass. T-5 flywheel cover.
Saw the thread and figured I would pop in. I live just north of Meridian and work in Vicksburg. I am currently in Aghanistan but supposed to come home real shortly. Good to see this many 3rd gen owners here in the state. I've got my 88 IROC 350 that I bought in 89. Came home on leave in July and tore the TPI apart and installed new injectors so its running great again now. Got to upgrade the brakes next before I put it on the road, the calipers are all locked up. Would love to come to some meets real soon if anyone is holding one.
88 IROC 350
86 TA 305
78 Corvette Pace Car L82
78 SWB K10
Dont want no more new stuff, buy old and proven and make it better!
For some reason I didnt get notifications on these last few posts.D smith I will see what kind of shape his gfx are in.I`ll see what hes got for you 85 zxx.i know those cars are all drum breaks and not black interiors. The window rubber wiper stuff and top trim piece would be better bought new .Not really expensive items.
Jaybee, where do you work in vicksburg.I just moved outta that place.still gotta house and an ex there though.
Ok,I checked on the cars. One is his brothers so hes not doing anything with it other than letting it rust.I hate it when people will not sell a car but will not do anything to it either. There are so many like that around here. One has no ground effects and the other hes doing body work on for someone. Its been there for 9 months. He wouldnt even sell me one of the grid tailights i need.
Bummer, check out my garage and you'll see in the pics what I am up against. I also have a short story on my Z. It has come along way since I took these pics. I just noticed that the mechanic that put this motor in did not elongate the 4 center bolt holes on the base intake manifold and busted the edges off each hole. Anyone have a 87 or 88 TPI intake manifold with a cold start (9th) injector provision for sale ? If so, PM me.
Whats up everyone? Proud Jacktown 3rd Gen Camaro owner here. Admittedly I wasn't exactly looking for a 3rd gen when I bought it, but have since put some money into it and have been doing research and have really grown to love the car. However, the previous owners took pretty crappy care of the car before me, one such example was the brakes. Went out on me coming back from wing stop, had to hit a dumpster. Brakes are fixed now, been trying to find some good body parts for it, every place I see starts at 93 on up for old parts. Anybody get any tips I can use? Jackson area.
we're still here. Spending a heap of money on the old ROC now. Finally finished the TPI rebuild for the second time (after it blew and injector o-ring within a few weeks of the last rebuild. Just finished replacing the rotors and calipers all the way around, gonna bleed them down tomorrow. Hope the new kickdown cable arrives soon so I can finish up inside the tranny. Found a guy over in FL who is parting out 2 Camaro's and one IROC. Trying to close a deal on the rims and taillights out of one.
Finally got the cable in and installed, what a bitch! Dont be stupid like me and break yours jacking around under the hood. Will button the tranny back up tomorrow after the paint on the pan dries. Been doing all the underneath workm diff oil changed, (new gasket leaks) so will have to do that again soon. Changing out all the bushings under it putting poly back.
Those of you looking for body parts I may have some soon, I bought one today from a dealer that was about to crush it. One of the owners of the dealership saw it just in time and called me. I bought it sight unseen, he said the hood was the only damage but the interior was pretty rough. Supposedly runs too, was seized in a raid last year. He told me it was an 87 but later on said it had 25th anniversary badges on it, maybe I got lucky and got a 92 - donor car for the bigger brakes?
Went and picked up the donor car today. Twas pretty rough, still had good rims and tires tho. Gonna see if I can get it to crank tomorrow before I make the final decision to part it out. It is an 87 TPI 305, most of the body parts are in good shape except for the hood. Looks like somewhere in its past it got Frankensteined with a 92 RS. Unfortunately it didnt have the major parts I needed.
Thats a nice looking car to part out. Maybe you could restore or resale. Anyway there is a 87 firebird here in Hattiesburg rolling chassis for 300. If someone is looking for one Craigslist autoparts Hattiesburg.
I bought it sight unseen for the t tops and wheels. It didnt have the IROC wheels but I can use these until I get my other ones refinished. Its pretty rough. Chin spoiler and hood are trashed. Windshield is cracked, interior is pretty rough. Here are some more pics of it, I dont know how to make them smaller so if someone can advise me I'd appreciate it.
Still up in the air over the engine, fuel pump is out on the car so I am going to have to rig up an external one to hear it run, it does fire off on starting fluid though. Waiting for it to get a little warmer outside first. It was originally white, then got painted this color. Instrument panel is still good but the dash and wiring harness are all hacked up. Seats arent torn up but are pretty stained. Looks like a window was left down on it while it was in the seizure compound and it got some water inside. Undercarriage looks pretty clean hasnt been over too many bumps in the past (mine looks worse), kind of hate to part it out but I have too many projects going right now. See anything you may need let me know and as soon as I make the decision I will get with you.
I'm from ellisville, MS about 25 miles north of Hattiesburg. I would definately be interested in a cruise or something when the weather warms up a little.
hey guys. I am still around, although I have not gotten any update emails for this thread in awhile ?
lots of work has been done and my car is back on the road now. Its running great, even though it is still multi colored.... hoping to have body painted soon ...
Chris
There will be a nice drag race in Hattiesburg this Saturday. It will start at 12 noon. At the Eatonville exit off interatate 59. The advertisement is on this web page. ( TorqueAddicts.net.) Sounds like a lot of stangs and camaros will be there.
Good to know you got your car up and running smash.I dont get updates from this thread very often either for some reason.Maybe ill see you around somewhere smash.A cruise in would be great.Drag racing...i may can do an 1/8th but my trans wont let me go all out past 90.Works fine under normal driving.Kinda weird.
Wonder if Tiger Woods will come to the race track....I heard he was in town...
if there was white girls in a wet t-shirt contest he would

Didn,t see tiger today, But saw a lots of stangs go home like a lost kitten meowing all the way. Chevys won almost every race. Top winner was a Buick v6 running high to mid 8s in the 1/4.
I am parting out the 87 if anyone needs parts locally. I make the drive along the I20 corridor pretty regular so I can meet if needed. Body is all good with the exception of the hood and some minor dings in the doors and fenders. You need something pm and I will let you know if its good.
Engine is a 305, I can get it to crank and idle but thats it. I cant get enough fuel pressure to it with the external pump.
I am in South Central mississippi in Picayune only 6 miles from the Louisiana/Mississippi State line on I-59. I see you are parting out your 87 ROC. Will the marker lights work on a 88 GTA?
all the marker lights are good. I dont know if they will fit a bird or not. Can you get a part number and color off one of yours and I check for a match.
I'm in Sebastopol, MS between Forest and Philadelphia on Hwy 21. I have a 87' Z-28 355ci with a TH350. Also looking for a new front cap if anyone knows where one is. send me a email if anyone has any information. gunner1204@yahoo.com

chris
hi guys. in down in florence ms. got a nice 86 iroc with all original equipment. 65000 on the clock. would love to meet soem of y'all. email me at turbinator3@yahoo.com.
Got the 88 up and running again after 15 years of sitting. Putting all new suspension under it today. Thought the bottom would be rusty from sitting but its in pretty good shape, put it up on the lift and washed it off, painted the bottom last night. Should be road ready this evening, new starter, injectors, plugs, wires, coil, shocks, springs, tires and ES poly bushings. Crossing my fingers....
Still have the 87 parts car if anyone needs anything. Lots of parts still there. Sold the front cap, engine and tranny.
im still around. been working on the 89 recently and have done more in hte last 6 mos than i have in a few years. new tires, struts/shocks (KYB GR-2) and an alignment. dang thing drives like it should now.
the big project was the ez EFI install and its night and day vs how it use to run.after my pyro season i'm planning on prepping my orig block and building it, the trans will be next and then body and paint.
