With the car running, tap on the MAF housing with a screwdriver handle and see if it makes the idle surge at all. Don't beat it to death, but give it a few decent wacks. That's usually another way to tell if the MAF is going south or not. From the sounds of it, it's not promising.

Re: Volusia County Florida!

The MAF is clean because you have an air filter. The new cars don't have it. It was an early GM FI thing. Replace one of those relays and then swap it. If you still have the problem, I would replace the MAF. Bend over for that. Then, get that 89 PROM, get rid of the 9th injector, and then let's set the timing and all the other stuff.

Who knows. I am a wimp about breaking stuff, but who knows if I won't run a pass or 2....

Re: Volusia County Florida!

sorry to hear you still having probs joe. especially with that low mileage beast of yours.

i am going to be looking to swap the 305 out for a 350 with in the next year or so. i got to take it easy on the 305 for now. developed nice low side knock on start up. got my injection system cleaned and power steering flushed out complete coolant system flush. all for free. did it at work. new job has been beneficial to my car. free oil change for me too. and i am going to buy new ac comp since clutch is going.

later mikey

Re: Volusia County Florida!

I replaced both MAF relays yesterday and cleared the codes and have been code free since. Ive driven the car about 5 times and the light has stayed off and the scanner has found nothing. Im getting the correct amount of gr?sec of air in the MAF. So Mike whenever is a good time for you to tune up let me know.

Re: Volusia County Florida!

hey joe i now work for texaco xpress lube. they are all over this area. i work at the lube shop on mason and ridgewood which is at a shell station. bad experience at the last job. but at least now i get to do car stuff. i can work on my car at work as long as we arent busy changing someones oil. now i can get my minimum experience required to get into a real shop... but there is talk of making me a manager since i am being trained for that now.

Track Sunday anyone? I'm going to go with the 4th Gen. Hopefully the prep is decent and I can get the car to leave in first gear rather than doing a burnout.

Tomorrow is just going to be a few shakedown runs to see where I'm at. Then I plan on waiting a few months for the weather to cool off. I had originally planned to wait for the fall, but I'm like a kid with a new toy right now.

Well, you guys missed out on 145* temps in the staging lanes yesterday. Holy crap it was hot! I have a really bad sunburn to boot! The track wasn't crap, but could have been better. I hooked decent rolling into it, but found myself looking at the wall on the 1-2 shift... around the 330' marker. I made two runs, parked it, changed into shorts and watched from the bleachers until about 2pm.

It looks like the track is getting rained out, it's f'in pouring here in Deland right now. No sign of it letting up either.

It looks like I'll have to reschedule another day to skin a snake.

Are any of you guys interested in going? We might go this Friday, it's looking like it's only a 10% chance vs. 50% today.

BBK makes that turtle ram for tpi cars. they make tb's too, and lots of ls1 parts including headers.too bad they make alot of mustang parts. they only want r&d cars in cali. that and gay marriage makes me hate cali.

Re: Volusia County Florida!

Destination Daytona Saturday? I know Mike wasn't 100% about going yet. Anyone else?

Here's a link to the thread on tech: http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showth...=923458&page=3

I'll be there as long as the weather looks decent. Most likely I'll leave this area and head that way around 3pm.

Hey everyone....I think only kwiksilverZ28 knows who I am, but I live across town from him, in Deltona. Trying to get my car back in 1 piece so that maybe I can start making it out to some meets again. If anyone knows of a good driver's side fender for an 82-84 T/A, please do contact me. Having no luck at the salvage yards.

nice to see another face in the area. i usually go out to lkq and see that stuff. i havent been out there in awhile. last time i was out there though there was very few thirds and i have only ever seen one t/a out there. the junkyard in deland off garfield had a gta with fenders still on it when i went but that was over a month ago. we need to set up another tgo meet on a sunday of course since that is my only day off. 54hours a week now. i am going tomorrow to look at another t/a good luck to me! talk to you guys later.
