Re: Know a good shop in Northern AZ (Maricopa County area) POST IT HERE!!

I drove to Mesa Differential today and asked them if they work on Australian 9 bolt posi rears. They had never work on one before and didn't know what a cone type posi was. I got in my car and drove away quick. Wow.

Does anyone know a good shop to rebuild a 9 bolt besides Az. Differential Specialists? They are far away from where I live.
Thanks!

Re: Know a good shop in Northern AZ (Maricopa County area) POST IT HERE!!

Doc's Engine and Machine in Tucson ..dont bother with them.Doc's son is running the place and he got sick(out for weeks). They had my engine for almost 3 months. All they did was machine work no assembly work other then pistons on rods and cam bearings installed. When I got it back I had one rod backwards, and one rod not centered on the piston pin.And didnt even cut me a deal for waiting for so long,oh I forgot he didnt charge me for stretching the new rod bolts..I dont think the shop will be around much longer..owes back child support (ex going after him) and he might be losing his parents house and possibly sleeping in the back of the shop.Place hasnt been the same since Doc owned it.Tried going back to get the one rod reversed and nobody is there?.Anybody had better luck elsewhere?..

Sorry wrong posting area ..can someone move this to the Southern area thks

Engine House on I-17 and Indian School. http://www.enginehouse.com/

Received numerous referrals to them, had my 305 rebuilt about 1500 miles ago after a blown head gasket. Good work, with a 50k mile/36mo warranty. Every mechanic/car guy I've mentioned them to has have great things to say about them as well.

Sincw we're all fans of working on our own cars, if you need a clutch job done Clutch Dr is a good place to go, they resurfaced my flywheel and soled me a LUK clutch, installed the pilot and everything for $129, granted thats when i was attending MCC but theyre still pretty good, oh and MCC itself is pretty good for certain things, we were doing full alignments for $20 i think the hourly rate has bumped up to $25 though, you can also have work done there for $25/ flat rate hour, all of the instructors (except Mr. D'ambrosio who worked for Ford) worked for GM, one of the instructors Steve worked at the proving grounds through the production of our cars if it helps lol youll have college students working on your car but nothing leaves the shop without the instructors looking it over if you need good work done cheap check it out

Has anyone heard of, had work done, or used the facilities over at UFixIt Center? ( http://www.ufixitcenter.com/index ) I'm thinking of heading over there to work on my door hinge pins (since I don't have any tools of my own, and my apartment complex won't let me do what they consider "major work" in the parking lot).

The place sounds pretty cool on paper, just wondering if anyone has any experience with them.

Re: Know a good shop in Northern AZ (Maricopa County area) POST IT HERE!!

I'm looking for someone near Phoenix that can help me with my motor, I've got a 1985 Iroc-Z with a 305 FI that just started knockin, i'm pretty sure it's a Rod Knock but i'm not 100% maybe someonce around here has some tools and would like to drink some beer and work on a old motor together. I'm in the military and live on base so i dont really have the tools needed to pull a motor out. I will pay for your friendship. haha. i want to just pull the motor out and check out the bottom end and replace what needs to be replaced and drop it back in. this car is clean and it's pretty much my baby. you can see the car on my facebook. www.facebook.com/bigwayne69 add me message me. i'm in need of some help or somewhere i could take my car and have it rebuilt pretty cheap.

I'd actually recommend DIY Performance Automotive if you live in Mesa. http://www.diyperformanceautomotive.com/

Same concept as UFixIt with the rental lifts and tools but DIY is owned and operated by a family of car guys with a history of owning their own Camaro's. Plus, if you get in over your head, they have a couple of mechanics on duty you can get help or advice from.

And, yes, I know the owners personally. But I'm not affiliated with the shop.
