Will my gforce tires are already full of cracks. Only had them on 2 years. Most of the time its in the carport too. Anyone else having tires quickly drying out? My old radial T/As were good for years till they were bald.

They are making tires that do that now.. good way for repeat purchases.. it has gone so far as to have gotten DOT involved on semi trucks. Reguardless of miles on thier tires if the date of manufacture is 2 years or more they are required to replace the tire, before it moves off the DOT scale. Granted they take a bit more abuse than our cars do.. but then the tire is also about 100x stronger too...
as for dry rotting when not used often, they happens all the time.. I have a set of tires that are 6 yo. not a crack in them, but i have them put up, wrapped, and i spray them every two months to keep them from drying out... don't have any wheels large enough to put them on again yet lol

eh, it might be enough if you were driving it a short distance every other day...
but if you're driving it on 500mile cruises 8 times a year and it sat the rest of the time, it wouldnt be near enough.
i dont know exactly WHY... but if you let the car sit for awhile, tires are more likely to dryrot.
another example would be my dads blazer and the blue car i bought.. same tires.. same age... blue car sat for 4 years.. my dad drove his blazer to work... blue cars tires are dry rotted, and my dads are just worn.. niether had "tire dressing" of anykind on them...

According to RV folks, bare naked rubber and inactivity is the killer.
"A lot depends on usage and storage conditions (ie covered or not, driven occasionally to get tires hot or just sitting when not being used, etc). The sun's UV rays and the ozone in the air do most of the damage so even covered tires in dry areas will rot if not used frequently enough for the internal protectants to rise to the surface when they get hot from use. A tire needs to flex and get warm to bring the protective agents out of the tire. If it sits, the chemicals in the tire don't work.
Michelin tire care info says that checking/cracking is acceptable up to 1/32 in. deep. If deeper, consult a tire tech. "My michelins went 9 years before I changed them.They had no noticeable checking. The tires were covered at all times and vehicle driven at least monthly to get the tires warm."
Truck tires are manufactured with added chemicals to prevent cracking, they often go 500K miles before replacement.
Wrapping a large plastic trash bag around tires in storage should help stop detoriation. Hmmm, I took photos of an old truck out in Furnace Creek, Death Valley, wonder how those held up...
