Ok i just got an 84 Z28 about a week ago. My dad had one when i was younger so when i seen it I had to buy it. It is going to need some work but I would appreciate any and all help that I can get. My plan is to take it to a transmission shop first this beginning next week. It seems to be grinding gears and I can't even get it in second. It needs to pass emissions so I am not quite sure what to do on that one.its failed once according to previous owners... will figure out ..after that time to get painted. Well the main thing is going to be just having fun owning this car and continually upgrading. been reading a lot on this forum..seems to be a lot of wisdom ..at least for cars lol ... anyways i will be picking brains when i cant figure something out or the book doesn't explain well enough .. thanks in advance and hopefully i look forward to seeing some of these other cars in person at the shows or whatnot...

Welcome to Thirdgen! On the emission part i would do a full tune up on the car. Replace Spark plugs and wires, distributor rotor and cap, your oxygen sensor, fuel filter, oil change and filter, if its a carb replace the air filter, the pvc valve and check the timing. and see how it does, if it fails you fail the first time you have a second chance to fix the problem for free and i would go by what the readings say.
