max tire sizes

my 85 had some nasty lookin DRs/sharktooth rims. I went and bought a set of T/A rims (15x7, IIRC). Question is: what is the maximum width that I can put on those rims AND still be functional with the car? 245? 255? Thanks, yall.

Re: max tire sizes

Thanks, with that info I guess I made a good decision with BFGoodrich Radial T/A 235/60R15 (S-Rated). How much of an improvement in the contact patch is the 235 over the 215? I understand, overall, that it's 80mm more rubber on the road, but is that a good, significant amount for our cars? Should I be looking for more? Thanks again for the advice and info, yall.
