Emissions and 3rd Gens (Tucson Area)

Hows it goin? Anyone in the Tucson or surrounding areas know when 3rd gens won't be required to go through emissions???

Unfortunately, the State of Arizona does not use a sliding scale. In other words, 1967 (I believe) and older vehicles are exempt. In states that use a sliding scale, this cutoff year is slid +1 every year

The only third gens that are exempt are ones who reside in the zip codes listed here:

http://www.azdeq.gov/environ/air/vei/exempt.html

and ones with classic car insurance, like mine. Then again, I drive mine less than 50 miles per year.... and I pass emissions anyways....

historic plates also dont need to pass. We got around emissions with our 73 mg back in 2004 by just registering for historic plates i think the requirement is 25 years old and some other stipulations too

Ohhh ok! Yeah the reason I asked is because I want to install a chambered exhaust system on my car but w/o the cats!

yeah you could just intstall the exhaust and when emissions comes around just put your old one on, thats what ive always done

I might look into that but since I have nowhere to store my old exhaust, I'd like to keep it a one-time thing for now!
