Can you register your car to a P.O. box

Can you register your car to a P.O. box in a different county to get out of emissions? I live in Vail so it would not be to hard to get a P.O. box in Benson if I could get away with.

Ask your state DMV. Much more assured of getting a TRUE answer, than what a person THINKS you can do.

Re: Can you register your car to a P.O. box

You can have mail sent to a PO Box in AZ but you can't register to it. They did away with that option a few years ago when they realized how many people were doing it to avoid emissions testing. Now you have to register to a real address that you can be traced to by way of a property title, rental agreement, or utility bill (or friends that will vouch for you in front of the law if you get caught).

The easiest way to do this is use a family member's address outside the testing zones. That way the last name matches and they never seem to look any further.

There is a penalty if you get caught though. And the rules state if you work or live in the emissions testing zone you have to get tested. And it's fairly easy to identify the vehicle since the renewal stickers are different.

Re: Can you register your car to a P.O. box

If you have another car to drive as a daily, you can probably get an exemption since you live in Vail. I live near Vail and my Iroc is exempt because I drive the Lightning to work.

Re: Can you register your car to a P.O. box

The only way that I know to do it is like Beater79ta said. Find a family member that lives in a location where there are no emissions tests....
