need help in tucson

looking for a shop or independant to do valve stem seals for me in my 89 gta. any shops in town that can do them? what will it run me? do the heads have to be removed or can the seals be replaced without removing heads. thanks.

It's not a cheap job. At all. Most shops will quote you an easy $400. The driver's side head is easiest, and passengers is only hard because of all the crap in the way.

If you have an air compressor, you can get a hose that will adapt it to screw into your spark plug socket, and use that. WAAAAY easy. If not, use some rope. I'll supervise if you want. I did half of mine already, then needed to drive the car, so wrapped it up on the driver side and still need to do passenger.

If you get the heads off, you can do this yourself without much problem. Will need to get the loaner tool from Checker or Autozone to depress the springs. After that, it's really easy to do.
