Odd police car - Third Generation F-Body Message Boards

I got on to the 605 freeway going South this morning on my way to my first service call. I looked in my mirror and saw a Volkswagon Beetle police cruiser from the city of San Gabriel! I couldn't see any signs on the car indicating that it was parking enforcement. Isn't this the same car that was advertized with the tag line "0-60.....yes"? It sure didn't look like a very good choice for a police car to me, unless the city is so broke that they can't afford to buy gas.

That's hilarious. My neighbors have two of those ugly cars. I seriously doubt they handle well, and they can't be very quick. By that advertisement I'd think 0-60...yes it can get that fast(eventually).

It was probably a "PR" vehicle for the SGPD. The kind of thing they use at shows, the D.A.R.E. program etc...

The city of Burbank has a Chevy crew-cab dually they run around in all decked out with lights, black/white paint job, etc... On the tailgate it says "Confiscated from a drug dealer".

Here in Newbury Park, they have a 3000GT VR-4 (yes the turbo model). Though this is no PR only police car, this one is out enforcing. I have seen it on several occassions conductioning "speed varifications" and issueing citations.

A guy at my work just bought a 94 300GT VR4. He's already talking trash, along with his friend the Honda owner.

I looked up the specs, for a 98, its 320 HP, but 3800lbs and a 14.2 quarter mile.
