Anyone know off hand the size for the power steering hose fittings?
The crappy Pep Boys factory replacement hose I bought not too long ago has sprung a leak and I don't want to waste time or money on a second.
I want to make steel braided lines but need to get info. on what size fittings I need to buy. I'm hoping Jerry, Don or Glenn might know? How about Tom or Chris? Bueller?

No, I'm actually looking for the size and pitch of the threads. I want to price out buying Earl's or Aeroquip fittings and braided power stering hose. I want to make full braided lines. I'm not screwing with cheapo Pep Boys junk.
I know the hose is -6AN, but the pressure hose also requires O-ring adapter fittings that screw into the pump. I want to make sure I'm looking at the correct fittings. I may also take an old hose in to Orme Bros. and just have them make me one.

Okay, I'm all squared away. I dropped off my old factory original hose at Orme Bros. and they are going to cut off the crimp connections and braze on threaded fittings. From there, they'll fab up some blue braided hp hose with reuseable fittings. All for around $40.
From now on if I ever blow the hose (very unlikely) all I'd have to do is pick up some new hp hose and reassemble the line.
Well, Orme Bros. mixed up my hose up with another customer's. Granted it was still a late model GM hose, but it wasn't the hose I gave them. They did try to contact the other customer but thought he was headed straight to his mechanic to have the hose installed.
I need to fix my car ASAP so I went back to my original idea of using 90° AN fittings and adapters. The owner at Orme Bros. originally thought I might have routing problems and had talked me out of it. But after looking at my car last night I don't think that's true and I was wishing I had stuck to my guns.
It took two seconds for the guy at the counter (the owner's son) to call out all the fittings I'd need and I was on my way. I personally think this will look much more trick and remove some clutter from the engine bay.
For the record and for anyone else who is interested here are the fittings you'll need: (1) 16mm O-ring to -6AN adapter for the pump (1) 18mm O-ring to -6AN adapter for the steering box (2) -6AN 90° Steel fittings (1) -6 high pressure braided hose or teflon lined steel braided hose

Just FYI Braided hose is very trick looking, but it will wear a path through anything it comes in contact with and not damage the hose in the least. (ask me how I know). If you find that you need any brackets made to support it let me know.

Lang,
I'm not using steel braided line, but rather blue fabric braided high pressure hose. I should also be able to avoid any rubbing since the area looks fairly clear. But just in case I may take you up on it.
