does this sound fishy

does this sound weird?
Dear Owner,
I will be very happy, if you brief me on the 90 gta 350 t-tops.i will be offering you the sum of $5500. the payment will be made through a cashier's check drawn on an american bank, and the check will sent by a client of mine owing me the sum of $8000.
if you are interested in this proposal, please forward to me your full name, address and telephone number for my client whom will be sending the check to you as soon as i get your reply.

Thanks
Ann......

then....
Hello Jason,
I will be very happy to see the pics of the car and also i can't afford to lose the car to someone else so i will suggest you delete the advert from the site where it was placed.
The check is drawn on american bank it is a certified cashier's check, my client will
be sending you an amount of $8,000 which will be made payable to you, the check cannot be deposited you must take it to the nearest cashing store for instant cashing.
I will need you to fax me a bill of sale (duly signed) the car will be picked up by shipping agent after payment has been made. the excess funds on the check must be wired to my shipping agent after you cash the certified cashier's check, i will also suggest you look for a western union agent where to send the excess funds when you have cashed it.
I will instruct my client owing me the funds to send the check soon hopefully it will get to you very soon, hope we will have a smooth transaction.forward to me your full name and address,to my client who will issue the check to you.

Best regards,
Ann

N;B i am located in united kingdom right now,am archeaologist as a profession.and i will be back in the state in the next 2 month(march).my shipping agent will be responsible for the picking of the car.

This is a BIG SCAM that is spreading around in many different forums. Being they want to send someone personally to pick the car up you should contact the FBI ASAP so they can be caught. Usually they have you deliver the car to a Customs Broker. The check is a fake and by the time they give you the cash and you are out of your car the place where you cashed the check is after you for the moneys paid on the check. By all means DO NOT BE SCAMED!!!

Sounds just like the Tom Hanks movie "Catch me if you can"
Jennifier Garner agrees to spend the night with DiCaperio for $1000. DiCaperio leafs thru some of his "cashiers" checks and pulls one out for $1400. Garner agrees to take the $1400 check and gives him the $400 diff in cash.
Sweet deal for DeCaperio.

You gotta love the part about "I'll pay you $5500 for the car, but I'll send you $8000. Please send the extra $2500 back to me." Sounds like someone trying to launder money.

Nope. the $8000 check is no good.
They get your car for free and you pay them $2500 to take it.

Just like DiCaperio, got laid and she gave him $400 also,

I'm sure it is a scam, but the way to find out for sure is to tell them that the minimum price is $5500.00 but whatever she chooses to make the check out for will be accepted as payment if it is $5500.00 or more. If she sends you a check for $8000.00, she bought the car for $8000.00, but the check will be held "in escrow" by your bank until the bank is satisfied that it is a good check.

That's why he's told to use the check cashing station. A bank would findout too quickly that it's a fake, lol.
