Problem...

My car has been acting weird. It will bog when I accelerate but as soon as it hits 2000 RPM it regains full power. It's almost like a nitrous shot at 2K RPM. Under 2k its boggy. Doesn't seem to respond no matter how much gas I give it the car responds the same way. Funny thing is that it doesn't do it all the time. It can go for days and act normal but out of the blue it will start with the problem again. It's only started doing this in the last couple weeks. I am completely stumped. What could be causing this? Is it a bad sensor or something? I don't have a cat on the car so I know its not a clogged cat. Oil pressure is normal so is engine temperature. It will idle fine as well. Please someone help me out I don't need this right now. This is making driving in the rain very dangerous since the sudden power recovery at 2k causes the back end to slip. Any advice? Thanks ahead of time for any help given.

Cold weather and humidity level.

Sounds like it needs some tuning.

Hmmm that's a thought. You think the weather would cause it to act that bad? It's funny how it goes back to normal for a few days too. Man its bringing back horrible memories of the demon my car had before the engine swap

Just a guess...could it be the distributer advance sticking then releasing? Checking my cap & rotor the other day it looked like things could get a little rusty in there if not checked Periodically.
or maybe a buggy chip.

When Don did the motor did he change out the egr valve what could be happening is its getting stuck open then at 2000 rpms slams closed so try unpluging the egr solenoid for a few days all you will get is a light maybe it will not hurt performance its a try

Actually the EGR is blocked off due to the ZZ4 heads not having EGR. I am going to go check to see if any plug wires are burnt but the rain is currently making that impossible. This problem is really irritating.

Sorry guys I have been working so I didn't get a chance to check the boards. This problem is getting really annoying and its getting worse. When it bogs its backfiring through the intake. Sometimes it bogs so bad the car dies. Funny this is the idle will be ok maybe a little rougher than usual but the bogging doesn't really happen until you press the gas. All my plug wires look normal so I don't know what the hell is going on. I swear as soon as it hits 2k RPM it is completely normal. Anything above 2k will be no problem. As soon as it dips below 2k it will bog. Then some days the car will be normal, like nothing happened

My number if you guys need to reach me is 714-931-2169

Update!

Problem solved. Car threw out a code 51 which is a prom/ mem cal error. Don threw in a finalized chip and I haven't had a problem since. Thanks to Don, Rusty, and Branden for helping me out with solving this issue. Nice to have the car running smooth again with no problems

According to the IAC manual and the car manual the IAC resets itself at 40 mph after install. I don't think there is any manual adjustment needed other than making sure when you first put it in that the needle is sticking out more than 1 1/8th inch. Other than that no adjustment is needed. I could be wrong though. So far the car acts exactly as it did before the problem.
