I've probably got around $1200 or so into this set-up. That includes a brand new GM master cylinder, 1LE prop valve and the powder coating and zinc plating I had done.
I pieced everything together and it was pretty easy to get the parts. Here's the list:
1) Caliper carriers and brackets - Spohn Performance
2) PBR calipers - AutoZone
3) Timken bearings and seals - AutoZone
4) Caliper retaining pins - AutoZone
5) Earl's steel braided brake lines - Summit
6) EBC Greenstuff brake pads - Tire Rack
7) Modified spindles - courtesy of JERRYWHO
8) New banjo bolts - local GM dealership
7) Rotors - Hawks Racing @ eBay
8) New GM J50 master Cylinder - Dal @ Vandever Buick/Pontiac
9) 1st design 1LE prop valve - gmpartsdirect.com
10) Powder coating and yellow zinc plating - courtesy of TDS
You can do the upgrade cheaper by skipping the painting/plating and if you're not concerned about your master cylinder, you can use your existing one. That knocks about $300 off the price. So for around $900 you can be done.
Now some guys like Ed Miller (check the brake board and you'll see his threads) have gone the C4 Corvette route and made hubs by maching old rotors and fabbing their own caliper brackets. Ed claims he can do the C4 upgrade cheaper than the 1LE upgrade.
I just need to upgrade my rear brakes now. I had a line on some 9-bolt PBR backing plates, but it's just not in the budget at the moment.
