Looks awesome Bret! Thanks for the pictures. I definitely would like to get the same setup on my IROC. How much was everything? How difficult was it all to get? TIA

Just give me a date and time Bret and we can play follow the leader on your home turf. I can't promise you that you can keep up though. But by the looks of your Momo pedals it looks like you are a serious playa

I've probably got around $1200 or so into this set-up. That includes a brand new GM master cylinder, 1LE prop valve and the powder coating and zinc plating I had done.

I pieced everything together and it was pretty easy to get the parts. Here's the list:
1) Caliper carriers and brackets - Spohn Performance
2) PBR calipers - AutoZone
3) Timken bearings and seals - AutoZone
4) Caliper retaining pins - AutoZone
5) Earl's steel braided brake lines - Summit
6) EBC Greenstuff brake pads - Tire Rack
7) Modified spindles - courtesy of JERRYWHO
8) New banjo bolts - local GM dealership
7) Rotors - Hawks Racing @ eBay
8) New GM J50 master Cylinder - Dal @ Vandever Buick/Pontiac
9) 1st design 1LE prop valve - gmpartsdirect.com
10) Powder coating and yellow zinc plating - courtesy of TDS

You can do the upgrade cheaper by skipping the painting/plating and if you're not concerned about your master cylinder, you can use your existing one. That knocks about $300 off the price. So for around $900 you can be done.

Now some guys like Ed Miller (check the brake board and you'll see his threads) have gone the C4 Corvette route and made hubs by maching old rotors and fabbing their own caliper brackets. Ed claims he can do the C4 upgrade cheaper than the 1LE upgrade.

I just need to upgrade my rear brakes now. I had a line on some 9-bolt PBR backing plates, but it's just not in the budget at the moment.

And one of these days that clutch pedal will be functional.

As soon as I 've got the extra $$$ to spend, I really want to do an HDPE event at like Fontana or Willow Springs.

Yep, A4 slammin' a phantom clutch.

I'm leaning toward a T5, but probably an after-market version so it will last longer. I almost went with a WC T5 back when my 700R4 died, but I passed. It was a good thing since it turned out the T5 in question had problems.

Thanks for all the info Bret, looks like I am gonna have to save to get those goodies BTW - why did you decide to go with the 1LE setup since the price difference is not that great between what you paid and what a Baer or Wilwood kit is going for?

Well, I got more for my money going the route I did. Baer doesn't give you a new prop. valve or master cylinder and their stuff isn't painted. Wilwood was my origianl choice , but they don't make a street kit for 3rd gens. To use Wilwood parts, you have to piece it all togther from various kits and that gets REAL expensive. Ask Jerry.

The 1LE brakes have made a nice improvement on my car. It's nice to have brakes that really grab when you stab the pedal for a change. Basically, I've got better braking with less effort.
