| Carlsabd Raceway epitath
Carlsbad Reaceway is closing.
The property to the south (left of the entrance road) will begin grading for a business park within 2 weeks.
The track will remain open.
I quote from their bulletin " Yes the raceway property is being sold. Events to be triggered by the ever-slow City of Carlsbad are in control of when the sale should close. It could be as far off as the first of next year but we anticipate something more like Oct. Then we'll get our 30 day notice. Since 1986 when the Raceway sold its land to developers we've been hearing this is the end. This time we do believe it. We hope to finish 2004 with a bang but dealing with City politics and save the gnat-catcher fanatics leaves it anyones guess...who knows maybe the purple flowers will all die and development will start sooner... but thats more gossip.
We would like to thank all of you for 1964 to 2004 (40-!/2 years)."
I, for one, will miss the laid back attitude there and the double digit number of runs I could get there.
