Review: Goodyear 24v cordless impact wrench...

I picked up a Goodyear model 33609 24v cordless impact wrench at Pep Boys the other day. The tool is on sale for $99.99 through July 30th. Charging time for full charge is 3 hrs, so I wish it had come with two batteries.

I charged it up and tried it out for the first time today. As I'd hoped the tool really sped up my task of collecting parts I need from the PAP yards. I collected 14 front and 14 rear sway bar mounting brackets, so that makes 52 bolts or nuts removed (one rear end was too low to allow me to use the tool). So far I'll give it a two thumbs up. The tool comes in a injection-molded case which stores the wrench, battery charger, 5" 1/2 drive extension, 19mm, 21mm, 13/16" & 3/4" impact sockets. Specs are as follows: MAX TORQUE: 170 FT/LBS, 2700 IMPACTS/MIN, 2200 RPM, 1900mAh BATTERY.

I first read about the tool on a web site that caters to F-Body Auto Cross and Road Racing: http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/index

The tool was mentioned under the "Tools of the Trade" section.

I'm in the market for one of this toys also, I've been looking at the mac and dewalt ones, but are a little pricy. Exelent tool to have around when you have to work on your thirdgen away from the air hose. I think sears has one in the same price range (100-150) I really would like to get one with two batteries.

170 ft./lbs. will pretty much take care of most anything you would need out of a PAP yard.

Of course the MAC and DeWalt versions are going to be much more pricey- you're paying for name and quality (apparently Good Year is licensing its name to tools now?)

I'd be curious to see what kind of warranty the Good Year unit has, but for $99.99 it wouldn't be too long (as far as I'm concerned) before it paid for itself in time and labor saved.

Yep. Circle the island in the top right side of the map labeled "Taiwan".

Are you sure it was THIS century? You took Geometry a lot more recently than I did if that is the case. Or are you like me and keep forgetting were in the 21st century now. While I'm on the subject, what the heck are we calling this decade? Were halfway through it and I still haven't a clue.

Back to the original topic, the tool has a 1 year warranty. I forgot to add that the tool is brand labeled as "Goodyear Racing". I'm curious if/when the cordless impact drivers will become so reliable that NASCAR will start using them during pit stops. It would make sense to me if they switched over to them. No more air hoses to drag around the car, hence no more chance of incurring a penalty for driving over an air hose.

Funny you should mention. I was at Tower records tonight and in their "Compilations" section, I just noticed they added a section for music from the "00's" along with the 70's, 80's and 90's. I'm not sure how to pronounce it.

Nice one Lon. It's pretty bad when 90% of the people on this board went to school in the previous century.
