New to the area

I am getting stuck in the desert of So Cal, around the lancaster area. Does any one of you know of car shows ect that are geared towards the 3rd gen? I plan on modding my camaro, maybe even twin charging it, but this saddens me ot hear they are closing down the tracks. Any good repair shops in the area? I know this may be posted in another area, but since I dont know the area, I have no Idea whats close . I am also a fabricator by trade adn soon will have welding down to professional standards. Any know performance fab ideas? Well thanks for reading my post, and I hope for some replies.

Later all,

see you on the street.

ps. I will be living on edwards AFB, so you know my location.

You are lucky to live near Willow Springs, a very nice road race facility. Go on up and have a look!

Re: New to the area

Greetings.

You are also very close to ElMirage dry lake bed. The have many functions on the lake bed in a years length. Actually next weekend (June 10th) they are having the So Calif Timing clubs land speed events on the west end ot the lake bed. THere is a large sign on the East entrance of the lake bed area that posts up coming events there. Many interesting cars show up to run top speed runs.

I actually just got back from there about 30 mins ago. A few of us just ran up there for the afternoon and early evening for some dirt bike riding around the hills of the lake. El Mirage is great for riding bikes, Quads, Buggies, you name it.. You can even take your 3rd gen oout there during the week and safely run 100 + runs around th lake bed on the west side. West side is much smoother. Park rangers will cite you however for tearing up the lake bed so no dounuts and crap like that. Just smooth and fast runs but do it safely being cautoius of anyone else there that may be transversing the lake bed also.

Re: New to the area

52 days and counting . You guys have no idea how nice it is in the states till you got to be out of it for more than a year.. I had 3 years of no wal mart, no conviences, and worst of all, no garage or tools . cant wait to get there. I should be in my new house around the 5 of Aug, but will be touching down in san fran around 26th of july. my camaro is still in nor cal.

Re: New to the area

You mentioned in your first post "twin charging" your car, but also said it was still in Nor Cal. Are you originally from California? I don't know of any twin supercharger set up that is smog legal in California. If your in the military from another state you have the option of keeping your car registered in your home state, and thus not have to deal with Cali's smog laws, but if you are from Cali, or register your car in Cali you will have to have it pass smog. The only smog legal blower set up that I know of for the our cars are the centrifugal belt drive blower kits made by Vortech, ATI, or Paxton.
