Car: 1989 GTA Engine: 355 TPI Transmission: 700R4 Axle/Gears: 3.70 Nine Bolt | Re: Famoso aftermath Yeah Julie don't be shy. You can post your new bests. I can say we had a good time. Don said the atmospheric conditions were not the best and only a 92 on his meter.
We made it home with no problems.
My results were mixed. The good was my new mph at 110.96. This is almost 4 mph over my previous best. The so-so was a new best et of 12.61. This is .1 better than my previous best. Going by the mph increase I should have been at least .3 second quicker in the 1/4 mile.
I believe the problem was in my 60ft times. All I could get was a pretty consistant 1.9 sixty foot time. Looks like I might have to look into a new torque arm. Need to get the 60 foot down to at least a 1.7 second.
Alex did very well with his 305 GTA. I will let him post the times. Jeremy also did quite well with his Camaro.

I think a good time was had by all, sans the few mishaps we had along the way.
Jonathan had his motor go away on the second pass, Julie ran in to a wayward bumper lying on the freeway heading for home.
As for me, it was an interesting day for sure.
Too bad "I" forgot my sun screen, damn my neck hurts!
By the way, Russ, I found the missing walkie talkie (after it misteriously returned from a year long hiatus) (thank you, Allen) it was in the metal case.
A special thanks to the boys carrying all the gear (by the way, did everybody make a little donation for their gas?).
Sorry I wasn't able to make it with my car, but i will hopefully be able to get to Funtucky next week end (Summit Series).
Congrats to all with the new times and moving up on THE list!!! |

I wanted to check out some of your SoCal rides, but I decided to get to work on my engine, and finish my rat bike.
I'll catch you all at the next one, which is hopefully soon.

Car: 1991 GTA Engine: maybe Transmission: maybe not Axle/Gears: the original 3.23 | Re: Famoso aftermath I had a lot of fun! It was great to meet all the new people!
I got a new best time with the new combination, 13.39 at 100 mph! I had 1.9 60' which is only so/so. The track is really nice! It was alot less crowded than Fontana and I was able to get in 5 runs even though we showed up late!
Unfortunately I ran over an entire bumper on the freeway on the way home. It got jammed in the wheel! Kevin was there and was able to get in unstuck.
I lost both of the lower ground effects on the front of the car. It is going to be fun trying to replace them. Luckily it only scraped the front bumper and missed the upper fenders. Also, I planned to paint my car this sumer anyway.
Congratulations on everyone's new bests. Thanks to everyone who helped out, we had a lot of people there just to help! Hopefully next time they get to race.

If you like, I can keep my eyes peeled for the ground effects up here. I have some ideas where to look right off the bat.
Russ, Don, Alex, Vincent, Julie, Mike, Jonathon, John, Alan, and I know I am missing a couple of you down there: I really enjoyed meeting all of you yesterday. You guys rock! The water Julie gave me saw me all the way home and I am already looking for a .015 drill bit (?) for my EGR to fix this code in highway mode.
I posted my pics on the NorCal boards but here are a few others: |

| Re: Famoso aftermath Well.. My car survived. My A/C Compressor went out, my hatch motor started acting up, and I overheated on the way to Denny's.
I had a lot of fun and it was great to finally join in on the racing with you guys after a few years of watching. Thanks Don for the tips and advice. Also thanks to Mike for letting me borrow his battery holder. It was nice meeting you and Joey.
My best time for the day was 15.010 @ 93.43 that's with a 2.356 60'.
See you all at Fontana. |

And thanks for the pics!
Hopefully tomorrow or tuesday to the local Pick a part to look for ground effects and a whole lot other things I need. I was too tired to do anything today. The car looks very strange without the front gfx. I can see alot of daylight. Hope to find something before the local club meeting next Saturday... |

| Re: Famoso aftermath A lot of mishaps on this trip. I hope everyone gets all of their issues straightened out quickly.
Julie, good luck with the GFX pieces. I've been visiting the local yards on and off for the past few months every so often, and really haven't seen many Birds, nevermind a 91-92 GTA. You might be better off searching online for some used ones and paying the shipping. That might save you some gas and entry fees if you find some for a reasonable price.
My best was 14.52 @ 94.44 with a 2.0 60' on slicks. Best on street tires was 14.75 @ 94.74 with a 2.3 60'. All runs were made with 91 octane. I have to say I am slightly disappointed, but I know things will get better with time. My first immediate run was my best on street tires, but all of the rest I really screwed up...blowing off the tires completely through all of 1st gear each time. But, this was my first time out with the car and it definately still has an issue up top past 80MPH...car starts dieing out, MPH all of suddens stops climbing and the motor sounds like it's struggling.
I took this as more of learning experience then anything else, and had a lot of fun just being out there and racing and chillin with everyone. |

I,for one was impressed. Your numbers for a stock Z-28 are very good, E.T. & MPH. Those numbers are close to what Julie had when she was running stock. |
