Going to upgrade to 1.6 RR

Gene has a extra set of 1.6 rr Im going to pick up from him. If they are self aligning do I leave my guide plates or remove them?

I'll then have a set of 1.5 roller tips with 3/8 studs avaible if anyone is interested.

I guess we are doing our best to catch Vincent still. I'll get closer to that range with the rockers, and some fuel into this motor. My 8.33 was with a full tank of gas, this time Im going to have way less than that, Im going to take some weight off removing the front iroc's and run Gene's fronts if he gets that Iroc out there. and Allen said he let me borrow his Et streets, I know those work excellent with my launch. So in a few weeks it's back to Irwindale. With a new tuned
attitude.

Alex get that car tuned let's get ready to go racing, Julie you can make it 7:00 tech is still open you can make it. Ivan get that 6 speed going get that harness in there let's get racing.

Re: Going to upgrade to 1.6 RR

Branden,
I think you need to leave inyour guide plates. Check with Don before you install the 1.6 rockers. Their are 2 issues to address. #1-you may have problems with the 1.6:1 rockers with coil bind on the valve springs if your cam lift is already too high to work with the 1.6:1 rockers. #2-You may have problems with the valves hitting the pistons. Don built your engine, so he knows the specs and can tell you if the 1.6 rockers will work with your motor.

Oh really Russ, I had no idea about all that. I'll check with him, for now I guess I'll wait. Thanks

Saturday the 5th Irwindale is going to be open all day. Gene plans on going, I wont be here.

Don't put them on the exhaust...those springs only take .525 lift, that would give you .544

On the intake it would be .505

Re: Going to upgrade to 1.6 RR

.505 on the intake would probably help the engine. Chevys tend to need more help on the intake side than the exhaust anyway. .505 still leaves you with .020 for a safety margin.

yeah it would help a lil, I'll have to see what kind of deal Gene is going to give me, just using half of them is the bummer.

6 speed is in; on the other hand, I met someone who is extremely knowledgeable about tuning, and he is going to guide me for a better tune

Sounds good. I'll get that information figured out. And come out to you one evening to drop off the goods.
