Fuel stain found under my 3rdgen

My car's been sitting for a good week now in the garage, and somehow a few days ago I suddenly found a large, fresh fuel stain under the engine bay on the floor. I'm not a gearhead so I have to defer to you guys for some clues as where this leak may be coming from, and more importantly, if driving it around will cause unexpected barbecues.

Also, my beefed up tranny causes a large 'thud' on the underbody when I shift hard due to a whithered bushing that goes at the tailhousing, but my mechanic said the dealer couldn't find the name for this part, nor did they seem to have it in stock. Anyone know what this part is or where to get it?

I'm hoping to get this car driveable in time for the Sunday meet at the Irvine Spectrum. Thanks.

The thud is probably the Tranny mount. That's what is was on mine anyway. Can't help with the fuel leak though.

I would start troubleshooting the fuel leak by priming the fuel system (without starting the car) and with a flashlight or shop light start checking all the connections from carb back.

If your mechanic doesnt know what a tranny mount is, I think you need a new mechanic. What a goof! You can get either a special 1LE rubber tranny mount from the dealer from a 4th gen Camaro/Firebird, or get a polyurethane one from Energy Suspension.

Re: Fuel stain found under my 3rdgen

Any autoparts store should have stock rubber tranny mounts available and many of them also carry the Energy Suspension pieces as well. Also do us a favor, don't refer to a doofus that doesn't know what a tranny mount is as a mechanic. That gives offense to those of us who are mechanics. By the way this is not intended to give offense to anyone who isn't a mechanic and doesn't know what a tranny mount is.

I'm not even a mechanic (and I have limited mechanical knowledge) and EVEN I know what a tranny mount is, and knew that when I accelerated and it went THUMP that my mount was bad...

Re: Fuel stain found under my 3rdgen

Well thanks for the replies. Looks like Hawksthirdgen has the Energy Suspension mount I need, although I'd prefer to pick one up locally, and ES's website shows no part # for a 3rdgen transmission mount, so I'm guessing Hawks sells the 4th gen mount because it's compatible?

He knows what it is, but when he called the dealer, they said they couldn't find the GM name for it or it was disco'd or something-- apparently "tranny mount" doesn't cut it over there.

BTW after idling the car for a while, I found some more fresh fuel leaking, and it seems to be coming from this little guy (see below) on the RH side of the engine bay, or at least somewhere near it. Can anyone identify this thing? (it's a carbureted L69).

That would be the fuel pump.
