'83 Trans Am Back up for sale ***900obo***

I hate to do it, but I have to...Im selling my Clean 1983 Firebird Trans Am...

The car:
Family owned since new, have all receipts and manuals, never been in an accident, exterior looks great(some small scratches and dings), interior looks good(passenger seat is worn, dash has typical cracks), still has the original carbed 305(200k+ miles on it-runs rough right now:has a valve tick-needs to be tightened, has an oil leak-needs new valve cover gaskets), has a 700R4 auto OD tranny-but currently has NO 3rd gear, posi rearend with disc brakes all the way around, 16" 3-piece cross lace chrome wheels off a BMW(wont find these on any other 3rd gen!), 2.5" Cat-back exhaust, replaced the whole front suspension with a PST kit a few years back, lowered 2", tinted windows, etc, etc!

Message me for more pics/info!

I can start the car and drive it for the buyer, but with NO 3rd gear its a top speed of 25mph...I also have a trailer I can tow the car to the buyer if agreed upon...

Sad to see her go but I wont have the money to do what I want with her anytime in the near future, and why let a clean good looking car sit and rot?

Check out some pics here:

I wouldn't worry about shipping to the East Coast. Your car is probably considered an average used car to most people in So Cal. Perhaps there would be interest from someone who wants a Third Gen specifically in So Cal, but many people just write them off as the "first step out of the performance hole that was the late 1970's" but not up to the performance levels of the late 1990's. In the Northeast rust belt, a clean, rust free, California Car would be considered something special. Cars driven everyday in snow and salt back there are pretty much rusted out hulks in 5-6 years. Check around, find out what shipping will cost, and what you need to do to ship the car and quote the additional price to the person you are negotiating with. Just one more thing to think of when dealing with someone from back East, they are used to the prices they would see on a rusted hulk which your car would be if it was an East Coast car. Remember that you have a clean rust free California car, and price it accordingly. Engines and transmissions don't matter so much to them. They are relatively easy and inexpensive to replace, body cancer is difficult and expensive to deal with.

Always make sure the check cashes before you send the car. There are lots of counterfeit checks out there.

Don't ever sign over or ship the car until the bank honors the check or whatever conveyance the buyer sends. Any honest buyer will understand waiting for the payment to clear. If a buyer has a problem with you waiting for his/her check, money order, etc. to clear, send the check back and tell them you won't sell to them without cash. Also don't accept that the check has cleared because the bank credits it to your account. If the check bounces later, they will pull the money right back out. Your best bet is to go to the bank personally and speak with a bank official; tell them the circumstances and find out how long you should wait before you are certain that the conveyance is good. This is true even with a local sale, unless the person gives you cash, and even then, it is a good idea to make sure the bills are not counterfeit, before you release the vehicle.

I've sold a car out of state. Before I let the car go, I took the buyer's cashier's check, went into the issuing bank and got cash in hand.

Just make sure the bank that is issuing the cashier's check has a local branch--like Washington Mutual, Wells Fargo, or Bank of America.
