Do people want to race you because you drive a Thirdgen? I'm the kind of person who likes to cruise and rarely, ill hit the pedal if I'm on a empty and visibly clear road. Maybe my speedometer is broken or something because almost everyday i seem to get someone on my *** because I'm doing speed limit and they expect me to go faster. annoying.
Just wondering....does this happen to you a lot?
I put a lot Blood, Sweat and Tears into my car to be racing it on the streets and put others in danger.
I used to get this alot in my 85 but i had a huge cam on it so it had a lopey idle and the car kinda shaked and it had headers with 3"piping and a flowmaster so i just assumed it was because of that and they'd want to see it run. Man that car wasted so much gas
Tailgators that wanna speed isn't what I'd call wanting to race.
Sometimes I suspect people think my car is a BUILT or a TTA, because it's white & no badges at all. Only had 1 car (a Rustang) that has wanted to "play", and I could hear his blower whining like crazy. That car had BALLS!

I get a lot of cars that pull up next to me at red lights and gun it on green...
maybe just a coincidence, but it sure does happen often...
Accept for one time when a 4 guys in an Accord gunned it from a red light, pulled infront of me, turned on the hazzards, and then got hit by a speed trap a few hundred yards down the road...
i do get alot of attention in my thirdgen.. mainly because it sounds like i'm running open headers.. but have never got a challenge from anyone.. heck, even the police give me a thumbsup once in a while.. most people that know my car, know that i can back up the sound.. the average racer is in the 13's on maui so i'm one of the "faster" ones.. haha
did have a hemi ram want to race me once but a cop was 3 cars behind.. i'll be honest, at the time if it was clear, i woulda ran till about 90.. haha we have a stop light in the middle of our highway so we had a red light and a clear path infront of us..
oh, people do tail me too.. but thats because i'm doin the speed limit.. like you, i put WAAAAAAAYYYYYYY too much time and money into my car to be wreckless with it.. even though i have my places where i am crazy..

haha i like your stories. My car is bone stock so i couldn't really race if i wanted to. my 305 was made for fuel economy lol. I plan on making it a 350 and with a new exhaust when i get enough money. Don't get me wrong me firebird has balls haha.
I just wanted to see if i was the only one in socal with a thirdgen getting this. Good to hear im not the only though. Man its good to be apart of the thirdgen family haha

Yea... it was pretty classic... I didn't even try to accelerate hard (i never do to people like that) and I know that there is often speed traps in that area... So as I drove past and they were getting a ticket, I laughed. I have 1 speeding ticket (because of a dumb mistake on my part, not because of racing), and it cost me a little over a hundred for the ticket and 500 a year for the next few yrs on insurance... no thanks, not interested in another... I learned my lesson. Although, I never have raced on the street... just not worth it to me...
Go fast=the track. Race=the track. driving=the street.
lolz... even in my primer infected v6 i've had people pull up and rev... usually other primered american cars... but on freeways i tend to drive with the fast lane... and dont really get much attention...
I dont get many tailgaters as I am usually 5-10 over the speed limit anyway just keeping up with traffic.
The few times I am killing time driving slow (for me) I stay out of the left lane.
Mostly my car gets looks like "WTF is that".
i get that alot usually 5.0 mustangs but also i had some trucks and other cars but usually cus they hear the whistle of the supercharger gthey wanna see how it runs
