Re: irwindale speedway, may 17th

Our Supertruck is racing this day so I will be readying myself on the back grid for my truck and driver to stage just after you guys go out on the track just like last time. I can come up in the stands about 1/2 through the second of four scheduled race events and join you guys. I can let everyone listen in on my headset to the track director cussing at the spotters and drivers during the race- it can be quite entertaining on certain nights.

This guy might be there though and if he is I may run up and be hanging out in the suites- alot of celebrities up there. They hang in Jesse James' suite.

Re: irwindale speedway, may 17th

Toyota Speedway, aka Irwindale CA May 17th 2008

Cool Runnin’ Camaros has reserved a Car Show day at Toyota Speedway everyone is welcome to come out and have some fun.

So who is interested? The guest Group enters the Speedway for FREE and will be directed to a private section to display only our cars. (Cars, Driver and one Guest enter the track for FREE) During opening ceremonies the group takes the cars on to the track for few parade laps then back to the private parking area. (Parade Laps are slow and controlled) For the rest of the night there is Beer, Food, Beer and Racing.
(For the Beer and Food you are on your own)

I will need to give the track an estimated number, so please respond ASAP. Space is limited to about 35 cars so only sign-up if you are sure you will be able to attend. Bring your chairs to sit in before the event. No beer if you are driving in the parade lap and bring a cushion or blanket to sit on the bench seating as it is cold and hard.

You will need to be at the track at 3:30pm they will NOT let you in if you arrive after 4:00pm, racing is over around 10:00pm. The Speedway is located right off the 605 freeway between the 10 and the 210 in Irwindale.

So if you are interested PLEASE sign up on this post or email me at Carguy73@yahoo.com with the number of cars you will be bringing. This is for the circle track not the 1/8 mile drags. I will be inviting a few other Internet sites and clubs so we should fill up fast.

For more Information about the track click here. http://www.irwindalespeedway.com

Re: irwindale speedway, may 17th

And a truck I hope- without me driving though. I do not think they are going to let me back out there in anything anytime soon. I got a little more of a repremand later as I pulled out of the pit area exit and was lextured by the track director himself. I promised him it would never happen again....from me anyways.

When you pull in you'll see a guy pointing to your left towards parking, thats when you point to your right and tell him you're with the car show.

That was fun, but a long day.

Some were combating the heat with "apple juice".

Hey Jon

Think that "apple juicer" might be why we only got one lap

Re: irwindale speedway, may 17th

I was a bit concerned with that guy behind me on the parade lap.

They seem to keep the laps slow after some guy in a brand new 'Vette got too crazy and lost it into the wall last year.

I was bummed there was no track photographer this time, oh well.

Still working on getting some pics up in Photobucket, I'll post a link when I do.

Got some good shots of your car, I took a few minutes and photochopped out the tree that was growing out of your roof.

Edit: Link to my pics

No need to buy, anything I take you can have for free. When I get copies of Steve's pics I'll put them all on a CD for you.

Re: irwindale speedway, may 17th

Thanks for the pictures Jon.

Ashame we were on a time crunch the last event and only got one lap- It was becasue we had to share the opening with the military vehicles that took time exiting after the National Anthem.

Fun seeing all that attended. Can't wait for the next, I look forward to talking to that lady in the red Vette some more (Sonique). I had to leave before she had her car trouble resolved with the VATS going haywire, I had to get Jesse home.
