converting from automatic to manual...need help!

i have converted my car from automatic to manual.. and my question is....Do I need to change the computer??
or does that not matter?

It will actually run fine with the stock automatic chip in there. Ran mine for 2 years like that then reprogrammed a new chip and noticed no difference.

There are vast differences in the programs, sorry you didn't notice them.

The IAC program is different. Many people have reported the car stalling when you push in the clutch.

The fuel and timing tables are slightly different, as well as various other little things.

Aren't the cams different in the 2 motors?

I am not entirely sure, but I believe the 87 305 and 350 TPI cars used the same good cam, no matter what transmission. Also, I believe the 88-89 305 TPI automatic cars got the TBI peanut cam, while the 88-89 305 TPI 5-speed cars got the 350 TPI cam.

I know for certain all 90-92 TPI cars got the good cam, regardless of transmission.
