I will be getting new Tires in the couple of weeks. They need to have good traction wet or dry. The rubber shouldn't be too hard because the ones I have now just slip and slide when wet. They should have a decent speed rating. I’m only a street driving (for now). I hope someday soon I'll be able to afford a new engine by Don.
I will be able to spend ~$700.00 on these tires. Any suggestions on what tires to buy would be appreciated.
Thanks
Andy

I've been pretty happy with these also bought from Tirerack.com:
Kumho Ecsta AST

So far they have been wearing well and I haven't had any traction or cornering issues.
I picked up a set of BFG G-force sports at Americas Tires a couple months ago for $522 out the door (after $70 rebate). They include normal tire rotations but they reluctantly agreed (in writing) to also include dismounting & remounting for the different F/R offset rims. Check out the specs on tirerack.com
i had a small local shop near me get me some new tires not too long ago. They gave me the Nexen N5000 tires (which I had never heard of). But so far I have been extremly happy with these tires, and they claim to be a 65000 mile tire. I have not had the traction break loose once (unless I wanted it to ) They also gave me a pretty good deal, at about $88 per tire (everywhere else was about $100 per tire)
They were called Imperial Tire on Imperial Hwy in La Mirada
Tire stats are 420/A/A, H speed rating
p.s. my tires are also 245/45/17, so that is why they may cost a little more than urs might.

Reason: added p.s.

I bought the Kumhos as well, and am pleased with them overall, especially for the price. I bought the 245/45x16s, but do not recommend them because they are too short, don't fill the fenderwells up, shorten the gearing on the highway, and worst of all, significantly reduce ground clearance. Make sure and go with the 50 series.
Well I've made my decision I'm getting the "General Exclaim UHP" from American Tires.
I'm paying $529.00 out the door. This price includes road hazards, balancing and rotation.
I chose this tires based on the comparisons on tirerack website and reviews I read about them and the others. The "General Altimax HP" was my first choice but they were out of stock with no timetable available for them to be restocked.
Thanks for all the responses.

i got a set of BFgoodrich G-force t/a KDWS for $450 balanced and mounted in maywood
Well, change of plans the "General Tires" I was going to get were also out of stock and with no timetable for restocking. So I'm going with the BFGoodrich g-force Sport instead.
I hope I manage better tread life than some of the reviews I've read, but since I only drive my IROC about 5000 miles a year they should still last a long time.
