Re: lowered my camaro (pics)
double dittos on the look of your ride dude...absolutely fantastic look! About the 2 hour drive; I used to live in Oxnard, I worked at the missile test range at Point Mugu. Then I started working at NASA and moved out here, (in the Antelope Valley), about 98 miles away. For a while I had to commute to the Oxnard area - I loved the drive dude - I'm a driver - that's one of the reasons I have the IROC!
I plan on going to Lakewood Mall on the 25th.
...but I have a question for you; what is the over-all height of your car; from the ground to the tallest point on your roof? I'm trying to get a sense of what your car looks like with the work that you've done to the wheels and springs.

I have problems getting a 3 ton floor jack under it. That's why I was curious as to the over-all height of your car.

Re: lowered my camaro (pics)
Hey 88_Thirdgen, (and everybody else), I went outside and took off one of my running shoes, placed it beside the air dam and took a pic to show you where my ride height is currently at with the 50 series tires and 16" wheels.
I don't think I can honestly go any lower out here on the street, but I do want to fill up the wheel-wells a bit more. My suspension is rock solid and firm.
I have some ideas but of course, I'm open for suggestions.

Wish I had that look on my car!! here is a photoshopped lowered car!! the shipping cost for a set of springs to Malta is very expensive and still waiting to find them in Europe!!

Re: lowered my camaro (pics)
too bad shipping is expensive for you for a lowering kit.... but either way no lowering kit will lower your car like that.... you would have to modify them (cut them) either way when these cars are lower they look waayyy better

hey 88_thirdgen!!
Today I spent a whole day in the garage and I cut my original springs and got 1.5" lowered on the front and rear but still had no pics!!
will post them soon as i need to lower a bit more the right rear side as it sits higher! even before the job.

Not to mention that you ever want stiffer or softer springs, your looking at a simple swap job.

can you make things a bit more clear to me about ground control weight jacks.. on how they work and how they are installed and how much they cost? i read the " lowering 101" thread but they still seem unclear to me

Re: lowered my camaro (pics)
In simplest terms....Weight Jacks are short springs that fit in the stock locations, but have a threaded seat they sit on, to adjust the final ride height, without altering the spring rate.
The fronts are reached from underneath with a 1/2" ratchet & extension, no socket even. The rears are those "rings that are turned to adjust the seat up or down, held in place by a set screw.
To do the rears, we jacked up the car, took off the rear wheels, got under to start undoing the shocks & panhard bar but discovered that the spring were (while still tight & safe) all it took was a screwdruver the pry them out. In reality, taking off the rear wheels wasn't even needed.
To do the fronts, we took the wheels off, took the nut off the top of the strut (inside the mount) off & the tiny screw holding the brake line bracket on. Only took that out, to let the lower control arm spring down far enough & not stress the flexible brake line.
So yes...all 4 wheels (coulda just done front 2), 2 nuts, 2 screws. That is all we took off to swap all 4 springs out. Can't beat that for sure!

Re: lowered my camaro (pics)
Mine are from Ground Control.com and the springs are made by Eibach.
And new springs are $59 each, should you ever decide to go up or down in spring rate.
Best part is, if you install them, stand back & think...."Wish it was 1" lower.", it's just a matter of sliding back under the car, turning a wrench or 2, & its lower. No need to buy new different springs.

Looks sick. Makes me want to go hack away at my springs, I believe the previous owner told me it had the Eibach Pro Kit. Not sure, but definitely not low enough for my tastes.

give me 50 bucks for the two fronts... i also have some for the rear that i used to have on my car they were 3" spacers.... they were fine but the only problem was that they would rub on the fender lip when the suspension would come down .. i was gonna get my fenders lips rolled but then decided to just buy 2.5" spacers... i was also thinking of getting the 3" spacers machined to 2.25" for a more tucked look for the rear but i never got around to do it... take all four for 100 bucks or just the front two for 50..

Re: lowered my camaro (pics)
in the rear you have to massage the inner fender.. with a mallet or something just hit in the inner fender its not as bad as you think. its very little you have to do .... and i used 2.5" spacers for the rear on a stock rear end for a fourth gen rear end i am not very sure.... for the front i used 1.5" spacer this way you can lower the front without rubbing.. i have an extra set of 1.5" spacers let me know if you want them you live in santa clarita not to far from me i live in ventura
