Third-Gen friendly mechanic, long beach area

If anyone knows of a Third-Gen friendly mechanic or repair shop in the Long Beach area, please let me know. I need some basic tune-up, brake and maintainance work done. Thanks, Ed

There's a kat named Lam's Auto Repair.. He's located on Long Beach Blvd. Directly across from the social security office, and next to the 99 cent store.

His rates for labor very reasonable.. I use him for simple to moderate work.. Springs, shocks, struts, brakes(pads, rotors, calipers) etc...

He's very upfront and honest... Very friendly.. I've been using him for these types of jobs for bout..... 6-7 years.. I've taken my last 3 f-bodies to him.. He's a no frills shop... Acceptable waiting lounge, with a tv and couch...

I tend to buy my own parts and have him to all of the install work since I can always find whut I want cheaper this way..

Hope this helps

Adrian

Thanks Adrian, I appreciate your advice. The online reviews for Lams are very positive - I'll definately go over there! Ed

Lam and his crew are honest and cheap! These guys don't try to rip you off. I took a Camry in for a brake job with my own parts and they installed it for $50. To have the rotors turned, it would have been $60. I called the day before and Lam is a very nice guy. The guy working on my car wasn't him but he was just as nice and knowledgeable. They'll pull you to the car to explain what needs future replacement while they're working on it. No shady practices here!

It's so hard to find an honest mechanic these days that won't rip you off. Lam is a really nice guy and he knows what he's doing. On top of that, he's CHEAP. Sometimes I feel guilty paying as little as I do. He rebuilt the transmissions on my dad's Lexus and my old Camry for less than half the price of other places. Brake jobs are cheap, too.
