Okay gang. I got everything sorted out. Our $15 a name deal didn't pan out. Since Nick typically uses Register.com that's who I went with. Our (1) domain is now registered for a period of 1 year.
Drum roll please.................we are officially SC3G.ORG. I toyed with .NET but in the event we ever want to list ourselves as a non-profit recreational group, .ORG will suit us best. Also, for an additional $35 per name we can secure .com and .net and redirect them to our site for free thru Register.com. Something we should consider.
the bearer of bad news, but you can register any new domain for $8.95 a year or ten years for $69.95. Let me know if you need any help in that arena as I actually own over 100 domain names and am deeply involved in internet marketing. I can help you with whatever you need... Including web design at cost from a fellow enthusiast. His designs and ability would blow you away... NO spam here... just trying to help on advice... Or whatever I can. I would really like to have a hand in helping if anyone wants/needs it. I would also pick up the .net and .com if you can, because even if you go non profit you can still keep your "brand" as people are known to "leach" traffic by buying another extension of the same name. Example Homeloans.com and homeloans.net.
let me know if there is anything I can help you with though. Let me know if you guys need CHEAP REAL hosting IE nothing like geocities... I can give you my cost or free or what have you ... Also could probably help with other things... Let me know... I would really like to help you guys out... Also let me know when's the next meeting I want to go
Next meeting is Sat Feb 2nd at Valencia Chevrolet at 5pm. Thats up by Magic Mountain.
Thanks again Bret.
