TRW Steering Parts Any Good?

I have a chance to get 25% of TRW steering components for the Camaro.

Are these things worth a damn, I know the big 3 use this stuff on many cars if not most.

Moog is the absolute best and the only parts I ever use. The TRW and other types are not of the same quality as Moog.

Moog and TRW are just brand names, both now owned by Federal-Mogul. Every time I've looked at what comes in the boxes for the last couple of years, they were the same parts.

yup. TRW is Federal Mogul; the same as Moog.

I'd still go with Moog. Geo and Chevrolet are both owned by GM... I don't think I'd be calling a Metro the same as a Cavalier.

Also, if you lowered your car at all, Baer makes some great tie rods for just such an application.

They come off the same production lines out of the same machines... more like the difference between a Geo Prism and a Toyota Corolla. Identical products, just packaged differently for different distribution networks.

I would not hesitate to use either one; or Perfect Circle (Dana) either, for that matter. Alot of the other brands, whose origins are more obscure, I'd have to look at the part before I'd be willing to put it on my car; like McQuay-Norris at Auto Zone, sometimes you open the box and some chinesium piece of dog plop jumps out, other times the Dana or one of the F-M logos are on the parts.

What about the tie-rods and related components that PST is selling. They claim they are as good a original and yet their prices are significantly less than TRW.

Advance Auto Parts sells the TRW stuff with a lifetime warranty. It needs to have a life time warranty. I've put 2 sets of TRW lower ball joints in my 81Z28 in the last 3 years and it needs another set. The guys at Tire America have told me twice to stop using the TRW stuff and go to Moog. I've got a set to put in, if they last longer than a year I'll let you know. No, I don't beat them in, they are pressed in and greased regularly. They just aren't lasting for some reason. What good is a lifetime warranty if you have to go through the aggravation of replacing them once a year (let alone wearing out your tires.)

Z, you're scaring me now. I just replaced my ball joints yesterday with a set of TRW ball joints. They seemed like nice pieces to me though.

We'll see...

I wouldn't hesitate to use TRW, Dana or Moog.

I also suspect that their parts are manufactured off-shore as well.
