Adding/Subtracting wheel backspacing.

I hope all the wheel tech gurus would chime in here. First of all, I have 17x9.5 GS wheels (+56mm offset) all around with a 4th gen rear and 2.25" adapters in the front. I want to upgrade my front brakes to a C4HD kit from ebmiller, but I would have to change the size of my adapter to accomodate for the offset change that occurs because of the hub(about 1/2"). Technically this wouldn't be a bad thing cause the brakes wouldn't be as far back with the smaller adapter, but I would lose some money trying to get rid of my current adapters and getting the new size. I remember reading about some people who werent happy with the way their wider wheels stuck out in the back so they changed their backspacing to bring them further in(IIRC). I'm wondering if Im on track. If so, how would this be accomplished and is it possible in the front? Or would I just be better off getting the thinner adapters(approx. 1.75")?
Thanks,
-Efrain.

makes sense, but here's the thing. you'd either have the re-machine the back of the wheels to take out some metal in order to subtract backspacing, or buy new wheels in the corect backspacing. the easiest way to fix this is to buy 4th gen offset wheels for the rear, and 3rd gen offset wheels for the front, and that would solve it. in order to keep you 4th gen wheels in the front, you'll have to machine a 1/2" off the adapters to get the desired 1.75".... or just get adapters in the desired length. did you buy skulte adapters? or trans dapt? I'd be interested in buying them if they're solid pieces from skulte or FMS. PM me with info.

Easiest solution is to get the thinner adapters for the front wheels.
