URGENT- Steering wheel loose- 87 IROC-Z

Hi all,

On the way in this morning i noticed my steering wheel was loose.
Well is hard to say exactly, but if i press on the wheel in the 12 -3-6- or 9 o'clock positions the wheel will move about 5mm.
If i pull or push the wheel there is no free movement.

Its almost as if the Hight adjuster has come loose.
Anyone got any ideas ???. Is it Dangerous ?

Think im gonna have to hire a car again for the rest of the week.

Question also posted on UK Camaro forum.

A loose tilt column is fairly common and there's a tech article that can walk you through tightening. Might be an afternoon job if you've never done it before. There are four screws that loosen and you can get to two of them without pulling the column hinge pins (pita). Tightening the two lower is a 2-5 year fix for most.
