Boots on spherical rod ends?
I read on a post of someone putting some tie rod end boots onto their spherical rod ended rear lcas. Didn't give any details though and now I cant find the post. Has anyone done this? basically it was to keep dirt and such out of the spherical joint to make it last a little longer. Instructions? Thanks.

Are you refering to these? http://www.sealsit.com/rodend.asp
Fortunately, they now sell directly so you don't have to order them from a race chassis or speed shop.
The Seals-It are a face seal style. Someone used to produce a boot that was more like a tie rod boot, but I can't find any information on it.

Hmm interesting.....never seen those before. And yes, i just read a brief post on one of the boards talking about cutting poly tie rod boots and using them over rod ends.....but these look like they would work a lot better.

back from the dead... anyone ever use these covers? Do they work? Do they have to be removed to relube the end and then put back on?

Re: Boots on spherical rod ends?
They work very well. What they are intended for is to keep out dirt/mud for things like off road racing applications. they are also good to keep out road salt in bad weather climate areas, etc. They are not intended to hold lube. A good quality rod end is teflon lined and will be self lubing. These are merely a protective cover.
