the suspension on the other hand is not going to "bolt in." I don't think you would even be able to fabricate a way to get them to work. The strut assembly and upper and lower control arms are completely different.
The rear is exactly the same, other than the possibility of the reversed torque arm. (tabs point different directions in different years) - Unless he's got aftermarket pieces, the only thing you'd be gaining is the age difference of the bushings.
- The front on the other hand, is completely different. You'd have to change/fabricate basically the entire front clip.
- The drivetrain is a simple swap. - damb...I wish a 6-speed would fall into my lap... - The rear differential is wider than a 3rdgen unit, I can be run easily, but requires the 4thgen offset rear wheels.
- As for the exhaust, the intermediate pipe, y-pipe, and headers are different. Possible, but it'd take some fabrication...
4th gen seats are bolt-in. the dash takes some work, especially if you want to retain your a/c...as I did.
- yes, my cage is slightly crooked, the area it's weld to is gone...more convertible mount rust...yet another reason I'm going full-frame... - thats all from me, this is getting too far from chassis/suspension
...hummm... I've built/designed several complete chassis, and several front/rear clips, so i classify the dash swap as a little work. - Proper install with functioning a/c took me about a week. That being weekdays after work and a full weekend. I also re-wire while I was there simplifying a bunch of crap. 2 of the screws at the winshield screw right in, the rest your on your own. Those 2 screws get yas centered though. You have to trim the front panel shorter and to the angle of the 3rd gen windshield/firewall. - It's also about 3/4" shorter on each side, so you have to put in some small filler panels. - I wanted the 4thgen mounting location for the fuse panel, so that took some work also.
