there is a different offset front and back, should be marked so that the brakes calipers don't rub on the rims, don't know about (lips) do you mean the bead?

the ones with more dish (more space between the spokes and the outer edge) go on the front.
The rear ones say REAR ONLY on them somewhere, just can't remember where.
