Yeah another spring question:Weight reduction
Hey everybody, time for this weeks new question. My car looks like a damn S-10 due to all the weight I've pulled out.I know it's going to get worse when I get my tubular k-member,aluminum heads and ss hood.I was thinking Pro-kit but with the car being so light up front I don't know if it will make much differance.Would either sportlines or v6 springs be better for me?I know right now I'm also running 225-50-16 kdw's (not my choice for size but they were on the wheels when I got them on a trade) and when I upgrade to 245-50-16's up front and 255-50-16's in the rear it will help some.Any suggestion's would be great.

I have V6 springs in the front of my car. Even with the BBC, the front weight is still roughly the same as stock because I have so much ripped out of the car.

What would be good for handling though? My car isn't going to be a straight line only car.I heard with the V6 springs the car has a tendancy to either bottom out or be to "bouncy".The only bad thing I've heard so far about the Eibachs either they be Pro-kit or sportlines is that they are either to harsh or to low.I don't want to go with Moog because I don't want to have to cut coils.I'm just alittle stumped about the whole suspension thing.

All depends on the spring rate. All springs can support the same amount of weight. How much they compress will depend on the spring rate. A V6 spring should compress a little more with a V8 car while Z28/WS6 springs have a heavy spring rate so they don't compress as much when added weight such as cornering is put on them. You could take a spring with a high spring rate and cut a coil out of it to make it lower.
You're not going to find a stiff performance spring with a soft ride. How much it compresses will depend on how much weight is put on the spring depending on the springs spring weight.
Typically a thick spring wire will have a higher spring rate. Go to a junkyard and measure the thickness of front springs on third gens. You'll find many different thicknesses depending on model and options.
