Old Spohn Coil front, coil rear or not?

A while ago I converted the front of the car to coilovers using Spohns origional kit (Alum strut towers, lower brace did not let spring through). I never got around to the rears because I saw that the coilover kit required welding, something I cannot do myself.

I will be dropping the gas tank soon (thread over in tbi for that) and I want to finish up the rear suspension since its all going to be out anyways. My question is should I convert to the rear coilovers or can I stay with the current setup and just get springs? I havent found a picture of how the coilovers mate to the rear end, is it just a bolt in where the shock is? Is that area as strong as the spring seat ontop of the rear? I used #400 springs in the front, what would be equal in the rear for coils or springs?

Any guidance would be appreciated.
