Hello folks,
I would like to pick some brains as to good brands and experiences with various chassis/suspension set ups.
First the Ride : Seriously tired 160k+ 89 RS 5 liter 5 Speed TBI bone stock
but running good.
Ok the deal is I would love to go subframe connectors relocated control arms koni's/Bilsteins 17" wheels with 50 series P-zero's ( or whatever the hot autoX setup is currently) cage , strut bars , camber plates , spherical bearings etc etc . I could live with the harshness and if it cornered ard enough to make my ears bleed all the better.
The reality is this I live in Alaska and we have suck roads and a short season. Autocrossing all takes place in anchorage ( 6 hours away ) I will be deployed most of the summer, I have a family and realisticly this thing will never see competition let alone a track ( either straightline or slalom)
Secondly my wife has expressed an interest on driving this thing to work on nice days ( not a bad idea we commute and on days i dont have it it is cheaper to drive than the 'burb)
Third, this car is pretty worn out and needs shocks/tires/ rod ends and "rubber parts" ( ie: sway bar bushings control arm bushings etc)
What i would like is some recommended shock/tire combo's ( have two sets of 15" wheels one set mounted with blizzacks for the winter) and opinions on if I should do the "energy suspension" style polymer bushings.
I will be doing the tuning on this car myself (going with the EBL ) and will likely upgrade it slowly but it wont be drastic and I want a nice balanced tight road car, responsive but not harsh . The one thing I do have to look forward too is all of our highways are two lane and lightly patrolled.
who has idea's on how to spend my money ?
Thanks
Dan
