Posting the year, make, and model of your car is almost always helpful. At any rate, I found that the 1LE shaft didn't mate well with pre-88 cars. I used CarQuest part # 3-3130 in my 85 IROC.

i wish i had parts numbers so i can go to my parts store and just rattle off numbers and have it soon, anyone have parts numbers?
I provided one above. As I mentioned there, the 1LE didn't mate well with pre-88 cars. Since your car is an 87, I suggest that the CarQuest number will work--at least it did on my 85 (I sold 60+ of these and I always recommended that number to pre-88 car owners and no one ever complained that it was incorrect--however, there's always a first time).
