Are GM spare tire inflator cans reusable?

Before I go to the trouble of tracking down a tire inflation can, I wanted to know whether they are user refillable or one time use only. I'm not that concerned with keeping the car all original, and if the GM cans are single use, I'll find a different solution. On a related note, I've found several sizes of GM cans. Does anyone know which one originally came with an 85 Z28 with 15" wheels?

If you can get an adapter you should be able to refill it, but that's just my best guess. My was empty so I just took it out.

Mine has a nut-headed plug looking thing on the bottom, so I've suspected they filled it through there, if not through the top.

The one I just sold had the origanal cardboard label around it and it said you can take it to you're gm dealer and have it refilled. That being said I work at a dealer and have no idea how to fill them. although I belive the label had something on it about r-12 so they might be filled with refrigerent???????

They can be refilled if in good condition and not rusted. Look in the yellow pages for compressed air refills.

Re: Are GM spare tire inflator cans reusable?

I've tried the GM dealer. They used to have the compressed air machine that would fill it, but not anymore. (They're not R-12. They're CO2.)

Tried a paintball range. Wrong size. No can do.

Tried Discount Tire. They'd never seen anything like it before.

Tried Sport Academy, they couldn't fill it.

I'm stumped as to where to actually get it refilled at.

If there co2 maybee try some beer distributers. I know I get my bottle for my tap filled with co2. I know there a different fitting but they might have an adapter.

My owners manual also suggested fire extinguisher places. No idea if they actually would do it.
