I need to replace my tie rod ends and center link in hopes of correcting my shitty steering problem. I want good quality parts, but some of these prices seem EXCESSIVE. So I'm trying to find out if anyone knows anything about all these brands. I know Moog is considered to be the "best" replacement parts and that Moog is made my Federal-Mogul. When I was comparing prices with O'Reilly Auto Parts (who carries Moog) with Autozone and Napa I noticed something. The part numbers are all almost identical, except maybe a letter and the warranty. I've got Moog from O'Reilly's, MRC from Napa, and Duralast from Autozone. I know part of the difference between the Duralast and Moog parts are that the Duralast parts have shitty boots, but that wouldn't be a problem because I've got ES polyurethane boots. O'Reilly's also has Master Pro parts which have the EXACT same part number as all the Moog and still a lifetime warranty for MUCH cheaper, too. Does anyone know if there really is any difference between these parts or not? As far as I know all the parts are made by Federal Mogul, but I suppose they could all be made in different ways.
Re: Brands Brands Brands! Does anyone have any info?
you forgot this part form rockauto: idler arm ...MOOG Part # K6249 , thats 75% of your total steering slop right there, plus search for "rock auto discount" for the 5% discount codes, it's worth it!
Re: Brands Brands Brands! Does anyone have any info?
agreed with the post above, Fix whats bad. If you want to redo everything, I used TRW from Advanced, also made by fedual mogel. I got new balljoints, all 4 tierods, adjuster sleeves, idler, and center link.
Re: Brands Brands Brands! Does anyone have any info?
I don't need an idler arm, that's already been replaced with a Duralast part. Everything has been replaced but the strut mounts and the tie rods and centerlink and I still hate driving my car because the of steering. I don't see that the strut mounts have much affect on the way the car steers as long as the alignment is right so the only thing left is tie rods and the centerlink. Yes I know I need to replace the strut mounts, but I can't spend that kinda money right now, and to be honest I'm really tired of spending money and this problem not getting better.
I found the 5% off code for Rock Auto and that brought it down to $201.81. I'm going to call O'Reilly's (I may call a few stores to get different opinions) when they open later today and ask them if there's any difference between the Moog and the Master Pro. Since I'm sure they'd make more money off the Moog stuff, it'll be interesting to hear what they have to say. If they say to get the Moog stuff, I'll just buy it from Rock Auto since it's only $10 more than Autozone and Advance now.

Alright, I called O'Reilly and he said the Moog parts are made in America whereas the Duralast, Master Pro, and the like parts are made in Taiwan. He also said the Moog parts are made with a better material and have better dust boots. So I think I'm going to buy the Moog parts from Rock Auto, unless anyone knows anywhere cheaper.
