Post pics of your NHRA legal 5-point harness install

....That still retains the factory seatbelt. I did search but most just toss the factory belt.

I took out my factory seatbelt and used those mounting points for the 5pt's lap belt.
I'm looking for some ideas on how to mount the lap belt for the 5-point harness while still retaining the factory seatbelt for street use.

Here are some pics of my bar install which I did myself. It still needs to be painted.

It's not DOT approved so it probably is illegal although I don't think most officers would care. Even with the RCI Cam-lock harness its a pain in the *** and it's pretty hard to shoulder check too.

Thanks for the pics. Looked like it's mounted to the factory locations like mine is.

Stage20; It's a Competition engineering swing-out kit.

Re: Post pics of your NHRA legal 5-point harness install

I got the only DOT approved harness available. Schroth Ralleye 3 harness. DOT approved and i mounted it in the stock location using those stock bolt holes. rear piece goes over the bar down to the rear seats old seatbelt area.

Should be legal but then again i'm not sure. State law here says of factory type is legal. mine is still a 3 point like factory using factory locations and has DOT approval so they should be fine.

I'll let you know when i get pulled over

Re: Post pics of your NHRA legal 5-point harness install

edit:

i see that NHRA requires

Quick release 5 point 3 inch harness SFI Spec 16.1 mandatory in cars that are required to have a roll bar or roll cage
dammit, my car still isnt legal. But then again there are many guys using regular stock selt belts in their cars that need roll bars so whats the deal? My seat belts are designed to be like OEM spec while still giving you a harness. But its 3 point and not a 5, just like OEM seat belts. So seems like the rule is cloudy to me.
Oh well its a street car anyway

Re: Post pics of your NHRA legal 5-point harness install

The rule is perfectly clear, but enforcement may vary at individual tracks for non-NHRA events.
