I am looking to get better traction with my car and I was wondering how much of a difference it would make it I installed a set of UMI lower control arms with the relocation brackets? Would it be worth doing or wouldn't I see that much of an improvement?
LCARBS are a must for lowered car, if you wanna race. They correct the LCA angle on a lowered car. They even help on a non-lowered car.
As for the UMI LCAs.....If you have the stock sloppy rubber bushings, at the very least, the double ended poly bushing ones help. Poly & rod end are better, then the double rod ends would be the best.
For autox/road race....Double poly ended ones can bind too much in cornering.
I'm planning on getting some double rod-ended UMI LCAs soon. I already have Spohn weld-on LCARBs.
what is the condition of the rest of the suspension? shocks and tires? simply adding new control arms and brackets will not make and earth shattering difference of the rest of the car is still stock.
The rest of the suspesnion is stock. The shocks are brand new but they are the very cheap monroe pair. The tires are Futura Supersport GTX's but im looking at getting a pair of bf goodrich g-force sport's soon.
I did LCARB, but I also did
Lower control arms double poly
Panhard double poly
torque arm poly
sway bay endlinks poly
brand new IROC springs
koni reds
SFC
Yeah, it made one hell of a difference. It's actually hard for me to really spin the tires from a stop now without using the brakes, the car just hooks and goes.
LCARB are good for traction. They prevent the car from squatting on launch (bad) and they actually help to lift the rear of the car into the air.
What other susspension mods should I do also? Is it true that putting on the aftermarket lower control arms hurts your handling from the polyurethane businhgs binding?

Straight line, 1/4 mile, you'll be fine.
In autocross/road racing, "spirited" street driving (corners).......The poly can bind, when one side goes up, the other side down.

Hello,
Thanks for you interest in UMI Performance. What is the vehicle used the most for? If its a street car then poly is fine with the LCARB's. What are your future plans for the car? Leave me know and I will be glad to help.
Thanks
Brad
if it just going to be for cruising, and maybe a trip down the strip, then poly will be fine. If the funding allows, i would splurge for a poly/rod end combo. It will allow some adjust-ability and eliminate the bind and they dont cost that much more that the poly ones do.
