Steering is junk

I can grab the sterring shaft and move it about 1/2"-3/4" up and down. Who makes one of these?

Re: Steering is junk

You can get a replacement steering shaft from eBay I think. There are some who make a shaft from the Astro vans. They have a universal joint instead of the rag joint in ours.

Now I see that it's not just the joint to be replaced. The shaft from the joint to the box has to be replaced. I checked all the parts stores, no luck there. I checked the dealer, part is discontinued and not in stock at any dealer nation wide. I guess I will find a used one or something I can fabricate to work.

Yes, it's supposed to be stronger, last longer, and have less play in than our rag joint version does.

Re: Steering is junk

And I am sure when the time comes to replace it again it would be pretty easy to find a replacement U-joint by it's self.
