the heck am I supposed to do about a spare tire!

my daily driven street car has 13" C5 front brakes and 12" LS1 rear brakes. Stock spare tire not even close to fitting over either of these. Even the 1LE/space saver inflate-a-spare won't fit over the C5's. Is there a company that makes custom spares or something? Does anybody know if a 4th gen spare will fit over the C5's?

I don't suppose the C5 vettes even had spare tires...

Re: the heck am I supposed to do about a spare tire!

Only thing i can think of is getting a 4th gen spare to keep it cheap, and if you have a problem, you can swap out a back wheel with the donut, and move that wheel to the flat in the front. Only problem i can think of is if you have different back spacing front to back, that that spacing may cause problems having that wheel in the front. Best thing would be AAA, lol.

Re: the heck am I supposed to do about a spare tire!

Ive been thinking about this recently. I have AAA also, but still want the option of changing my own tire if I need it.

Im running LS1 brakes front and rear. I plan to get a 4th gen spare, which SHOULD fit over the brakes.

However...Im running a posi...so if I get a rear flat, Ill need to put a tire from the front on the rear, and put the donut on the front. This isnt usually the accepted place for a donut, but it'll get me out of where ever I am without hurting my diff. Just gotta milk her home or to a shop.

I wish the inflatable spare that came with my car still worked. The sidewalls are trashed and it wont inflate. Oh...and I wish it fit over the brakes. haha.

Look for a GTO spare. I've seen people use them as wheels for their skinnies, and I believe they are a 17" wheel.

It doesn't hurt if they are on the front (as the wheels are completely independent). It will mess up a positraction rear end, though. At least I think that's right.

This is very similar to what came with my G8 GT.
Many car comapnies are starting to use these insead of the spare/jack setups...

It's a keeper, for sure...

Wife likes the quieness compared to the Firebird. It would still kick the Firebirds *** in a drag-race, but I think the 'bird corners just a little bit flatter. When the road gets rough though, the G8 holds like it's on rails where the Firebird starts to step out, and is a handfull to keep in it's lane.
That Zeta chassis is top-notch. Not "just for a large sedan," it's handling is top-notch for any car, like it's carved out of granite. Driving the car belies it's size. It "drives small" for lack of a better description.

Next week it will be a year old and it hasn't had a single issue....
