Control arm bearings

Hello all,
I am having my control arms sandblasted today.
I heard that the control arm bearings need to be pressed out when you replace them.
Do you think that is something the metal fabrication shop in my school will be able to do?

Do new ones need to be pressed in as well?

Thanks,
-Andrew

Re: Control arm bearings

They're bushings, not bearings.
You can do it yourself if you have access to a press or a hammer. If you don't have a press, and the metal fab shop does, just have them do it. Make sure a spacer is put next to the bushing casing in the control arm though, before anyone attempts to remove the bushing, or it will try and compress the control arm and the casing won't come out and you'll have a f'ed up control arm.
Yes, you do need to buy replacement bushings.
