I can't figure the problem out!

Ok, i have been asking questions about the rattle on my car. It's not the brake pads, I have checked the bushings and bearings under the car and all of those are working fine, and also bolted down the inner fender panel. The quarter panels are secure. I bounce the car up and down in the back, and i dont hear anything. The left rear rattles a lot on our gravel road, i open the door and stick my head out, and its clearly something in the left rear. It sounds like something just dangling or metal-to-metal rattling. I'm only 17 and don't know how to work on suspension, and i don't want to take it to a repair shop and pay a fortune to get something fixed that does not affect the car. Its the only problem i have with the car. It would much more peaceful in the car if i did not have to hear that rattle.

I can't reach up in there. Do you have to take out the rear seats to get to that?

check the panhard/trace brace bar . on one of mine all 3 bolts had fallen out . made a heck of a rattle . the bar runs from the pass. side of rear axle to the body on drivers side under the car . the bolts are metric , 15mm head as i recall . good luck .

ok, i just looked at the top rear shock mount, and the bushing was bad. i fixed it, and that still didn't fix it. its somewhere in the tire/brakes/rim area. its soo freakin annoying.

Have you checked the license plate frame? I know mine makes a rattling noise over rough roads. Sounds metallic.

Re: I can't figure the problem out!

ok, i totally forgot about this. this will probably narrow it down a lot. it does not rattle when i drag the brakes. say 10 mph normal-it really rattles. 10 mph plus dragging brakes-no rattle.
