Strut mount plates

I'll be rebuilding the front end in my new (to me) sport coupe.
I've noticed that despite all the new parts and using a skilled and reputable shop for alignment my past projects have always had excessive tire wear on the outside of the front tires. A search of probable causes and possible solutions yields SO much information that I just have to throw this out there and find what the latest and greatest remedies are.
I've been looking at the Spohn strut mounts which are said to offer additional camber adjustment.

Re: Strut mount plates

they are pretty nice, but the J&M ones from hotpart.com offer much more adjustment. And look pretty cool too.

As for the tire wear, it has a lot to do with the 3rd gen strut type suspension as well.

Re: Strut mount plates

I'm running the Spohn version. After adding an Edelbrock STB, I'm somewhat concerned about caster adjustment--which wouldn't be a problem with the J&M version. Should I, at some time, run into that problem, I'll switch to J&M.

Re: Strut mount plates

I'm curious. How does the J&M STB differ from the Edelbrock setup? I've attached a pic of my installatiion.
I'm mostly interested in adding a little negative camber. My thinking is that it will help reduce the amount of outside tire wear I get from the OEM recommended values. Spohn strut mounts are advertised as providing that capability.
There have been postings about a what new settings work best for a giving driving application however I can't find them.

I assume you mean Spohn? At any rate, you'll see pics of the two (Spohn and J&M) in the following link:

In my case, and apparently yours, the STB sits so close to the strut mount that problems "might" arise with caster adjustment, not so with the J&M piece. Either piece would provide more adjustment.

Actually I had thought there was a J&M STB that differed from the Edelbrock piece. Your answer clears up the question none the less.
That being said, (and I'm still undecided about which strut mount to use) I refer back to my original question regarding uneven tire wear and what other forum members are doing to remedy it. Somewhere here I've read about altering the OEM camber spec but to what degree (pun intended) I'm not sure.
Keep in mind that I've rebuilt more than one these front ends (all components) and always use a reputable shop for alignment. The result is still the same. The outside edge of the tire wears out at twice the rate of the rest of the tread.
